“The speed of the Emirate’s ascension was perhaps best brought to life in 2018 when we marked the arrival of DXB’s billionth passenger.”
Dubai’s emergence as a cosmopolitan, global centre for innovation, tourism, trade and commerce in such a short timeframe is remarkable. It is a testament to the wisdom and vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The speed of the emirate’s ascension was perhaps best brought to life in 2018 when we marked the arrival of DXB’s billionth passenger. It was a celebration of Dubai’s hospitality and the entire sector and city was involved. It was a celebration heard around the world and a showcase for Dubai’s renowned hospitality and collaborative spirit. It was emblematic of the connection that exists between aviation and Dubai’s development.
Over the past 65 years aviation, and the connectivity it provides, has forged the global links needed to diversify and grow Dubai’s economy. It has supported the development of a multi-cultural society where tolerance is encouraged and practiced. It has provided millions with the freedom to travel and experience all the world has to offer.
That continues to be a driving force behind our plans to develop the sector further albeit in an environment characterised by slower global economic growth, regional geo-political tensions and trade uncertainty. However, while there may be near-term challenges, Dubai Airports’ long-term goals continue to centre around the development of our new DXB brand by creating an airport experience that surprises and delights our customers while showcasing Dubai. Similarly, we will continue to leverage technology to deliver a seamless travel experience, operational efficiency and cost-effective capacity. All of this lays the groundwork for hosting Expo 2020 next year.
To deliver each and every employee must play a role by putting the customer first, embracing a spirit of innovation and collaborating even more closely with our service partners across the airport. If we do this, we will continue to contribute to Dubai, we will grow our brand presence and we will get closer to achieving our vision of being the world’s leading airport company.
