Dubai Airport’s role in helping to change the lives of people of determination, as an official supporter of the Special Olympics World Games 2019, was recognised by the rulers of Abu Dhabi and Dubai in May 2019. Having worked closely with the Special Olympics organisation and the airport community during the games to extend a special welcome to the thousands of athletes, family members and support staff who arrived for the competition.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai and H.H Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, personally greeted and thanked representatives from leading organisations in the UAE, including Dubai Airports’SVPCommunications & Reputation Anita Mehra, at Al Bateen Palace in Abu Dhabi, that collaborated to make this year’s edition of the Games one of the best ever.
Each of the teams arriving into DXB was greeted by a dedicated customer service guide, who escorted them through all the necessary travel processes –from immigration where they were fast-tracked through dedicated counters -to customs and porter assistance with baggage, all the way to meeting points at dedicated arrival areas reserved for the event.
